Solution

A publicly funded library in a tertiary institution opened in 2008. In addition to library collections, services and staff, the building houses academic computing offices, a Technology Resource Center, video recording studios and edit rooms, a 200-seat open computer lab, four 60-seat digital classrooms and one
80-seat classroom.

The original computer lab was under utilized by students at the university. The institution envisioned
a space where the students would want to come and work as well as have control in how they work. Our goal was to be able to fit more workstations in the same footprint while creating spaces that gave students the ability to collaborate.

We are also to extend the functionality of the computing offices, digital classrooms and technology resource center to meet the requirements of a ‘Computer Based Test Center’ with capacity to conduct JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 2,000 candidates per day.

The project at completion consist of: fully equipped Professional Test Centres with combined seat of five hundred and fifty (550), 2 registration centres (Biometric/Prometric Centres) that process 20 registrants concurrently, well equipped control/server rooms, 100 KVA Generators, 250 KVA dedicated power transformer.
